He was testing the waters, I think he doesnā€™t know what he is going to say until he reads the room. He didnā€™t get a good reaction until he mentions the geese, so he doubles down and keeps talking about geese and gets more of a rise from the crowd, so kicks it up to taking the pets. I think part of it is the crowd is very aware of all the shit he got for talking about eating cats and dogs, so when he doubles down they vocally show that he has their support and that they back what he has to say. Itā€™s like a bad feedback loop.

Itā€™s a ā€œpositiveā€ feedback loop, like how a blood clot can cause more blood clots instead of turning them off. They canā€™t just accept a weakness

He's admitted that this is exactly what he does. He said, straight to his followers faces at a rally, that he hated the phrase "drain the swamp". Said it was "hokey". But one day he said it and the crows went wild, so he started saying it more and more.
