Yeah - why not an opaque waste bag with holes for breathing?

The idea of a solution that relies on the police acting in 100% totally good faith and not just demanding you take it off anyway seems rather naive.

"Ah shit, we can't curb stomp this one guys, he's got a funhouse mirror on his face"

If you were a cop you’d be curb stomping to

"If you were in the army you would be doing warcrimes too"

Curb stomping to the beat. It's just how they dance.

We’ll see that’s why I’m not becoming a cop, cause I don’t find curb stomping innocent civilians fun. But different strokes I guess

You stop seeing them as innocent that’s the point

I'm not dumb enough to be a cop 😞 they said my IQ wasn't low enough to follow orders blindly.

I think this could also be seen as acting in bad faith.

Or that's what the companies who sell our data will say lol.

Cant have bad faith if I never had any in them in the first place. Freaking ratty lizard people.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Rats have nothing to do with this 🐀

Rather any solution that relies solely on AI being flawless and law enforcement being morally upright is doomed to fail.

Childrens face paint.

No one can reasonably get mad at you for having it on and assuming its something like a cat or dog face that should thow off facial recognician too.

Ah - good point 😅

That's wild, which city? What about religion face coverings and those pandemic masks, or people with facial disfigurement or riding a bike?.

If the police can see it, so can AI. This is designed to obscure the view and it's perfectly reasonable that a police officer would make you take it off for facial verification.

Oh "lazy cops". You're so unbelievably biased against police that you can't even identify what makes one lazy or not. It would be lazy of them to not take the time to get the person to remove their mask and perform a proper identification when necessary.

Bet you'd argue if one asked you to take it off too. Call them lazy while you're at it. And then blame them when they're no longer polite to you about removing it.

You have any source for that? because my intuition tells me an AI specifically trained for facial recognotion should be at least as good as a human.

if the mask is made specifically to hide your identity, wdym they can't claim it?

Yep, right before Covid I was sick, I think with the flu, but I had to do some things. I thought it would be ok to wear a mask (a white surgical medical one like everyone used during covid) so as to try to not spread it to other people. I went into a gas station and the clerk freaked out and demanded I remove it and informed me it was illegal. I googled it and she was right. I was always nervous wearing a mask during covid because I live in a Covid denying state and technically wearing a mask as per CDC guidelines was illegal.

In north Louisiana. And the law doesn't make exemptions for medical devices. Just say it is illegal to have facial coverings. This state is very dumb and has a hard time writing good legislation so it's usually very sweeps by and without nuance.

The pandemic is still on

I vaguely remember how we all wore opaque masks

If the police can recognize you, AI's can learn it as well.

If this kind of mask would really become a thing, it wouldn't take much time at all for people to train an AI which can see through it easily.

1

u/SupportGeek 5d ago

They absolutely can make that claim since that’s literally what this is doing

I like how he's holding his breath so he can see.
